The next advanced mechanics class is next Thursday, February 17 at 7pm. As before, the location is Fhar’s garage workshop. Fhar Miess will be teaching, and the topic will be frame fit and geometry. We’ll be learning the difference between a chainstay and a downtube, everything in between, and how to know exactly what frame is right for you. Continue reading →
Using ancient methods of divination, we have discovered that this
Saturday may very well be the coldest day of the year, which can mean
only one thing: group ride!
So don your mittens and balaclavas and lets get together at noon at
the Washington monument for a chilly loop through DC and over the Key
and 14th St. bridges into Arlington. Cue sheets will be on hand, but

fingers and toes. Continue reading →
Just a reminder that our Saturday clinics are closed for the season. Check this page for info on our other events and watch for more clinics in the Spring.
The next advanced mechanics class, on headsets, is this Thursday, January 20 at 7pm.
The class will go over the different types of headsets and stems, and how they interact. We’ll talk about the difference between threaded and threadless headsets, common sizes, and common problems. Then we’ll turn to installation and servicing, and demonstrate replacing the headset on an old frame.
For more information on the Advanced Class this Thursday, email Jameel.
Its okay if you haven’t been to the previous classes – as long as you already have basic bike mechanics skills, you will be able to keep up. The concept of the advanced classes is that it gives us a chance to go a little deeper than we do at the clinic and learn about some more in-depth topics. Anyone who knows the basics can benefit. The classes are in no particular order, so there is no worry about missing the last one… but you really should come to all of them because they are fascinating, of course… They are taught round-robin, so start thinking about what topic you might want to research and teach! Even if you don’t consider yourself an expert, its a great chance to deepen your knowledge.
